Staff Accountant

Summary

This is a newly created role to assit with our increasing overall growth. The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting in the accurate and timely preparation of financial records, reports, and analysis. This position plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of the organization’s accounting processes, ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.

Areas of Responsibility

General Ledger and Month-End Close:

  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements.
  • Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes.

Accounts Payable and Receivable:

  • Process invoices and payments for accounts payable.
  • Generate invoices and monitor collections for accounts receivable.
  • Ensure proper coding and approval for transactions.

Financial Reporting:

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Generate ad-hoc reports for management as needed.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Provide support in preparing budgets and forecasts.
  • Analyze variances between actual and budgeted figures.

Compliance and Auditing:

  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Assist with external and internal audits by preparing necessary documentation.

Tax and Regulatory Filings:

  • Assist in preparing sales tax, payroll tax, and other regulatory filings.
  • Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for streamlining accounting processes and increasing efficiency.
  • Participate in the implementation of new accounting software or tools.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other departments to ensure the accuracy of financial data.
  • Provide support during special projects or initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or working towards CPA designation is a plus.
  • Experience: 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP).
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
  • Familiarity with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
